Hi, welcome to Maple Street

Canada's love affair with the buttertart is unmistakable. In fact it's one of just a few genuinely Canadian recipes, dating back to settlement days. At Maple Street we share this love and admiration and our mission is to elevate the storied buttertart on a broader scale. We think we make the best tarts around and are pretty sure you'll agree. Fortunately it's not just us: our customers love them and we've received rave reviews since we started.

Premium ingredients

We craft the storied buttertart with the respect it deserves: pure Quebec maple syrup, creamery butter and real eggs, using secret techniques.

Rich & complex flavours

Almost all of our competitors use corn syrup or cream instead of maple syrup. Maple and butter give our tarts a rich and complex taste.

Handcrafted

Every tart we sell is fresh and completely made from scratch by hand. We do not freeze any of our ingredients. We think you can taste the difference.

Who's behind Maple Street

Proud Canadians!. Our goal is to elevate the buttertart on the domestic and international stage.

When it came to buttertarts, I could take them or leave them. After trying Maple Street’s, I am now addicted!! The line ups to purchase these tarts have “broken the office” as I like to joke. When there is a pop-up-shop, all work stops and we rush to get our hands on as many tarts as possible. I am especially fond of their use of all natural ingredients, the flavour options and the great customer service! With the several size options, these tasty treats are great to serve at any dinner party. I would recommend these tarts to everyone to try!.

Canada's Love Story

The tart's history has been traced back to the arrival of the filles de marier in the mid-1600s who had to make do with what they found in their new homes: maple syrup or sugar, farm-fresh butter and dried fruit (read raisins). The earliest published recipe is from Barrie, Ontario in the 1900 edition of the Royal Victoria Hospital Cookbook. An integral part of early Canadian cuisine, it was often viewed as a source of pride.

Today, most central Canadian families have 'guarded' family recipes and tens of thousands of people flock to buttertart festivals in Ontario, sampling innovative flavours such as cheesecake salted caramel or ghost chili-infused tarts.
